‘Matumaini’ @ Nairobi Academy School
Winners of the Best Children’s Play at this year’s Kenya Theatre Awards, Youth Theatre Kenya are back with Matumaini. The show brings together over 100 cast members in an initiative involving Ghetto Classics, a programme that uses classical music among the youth in Mukuru kwa Reuben and Korogocho, with a whole new beautiful story and compelling classical of how music can save a life. Youth Theatre Kenya has, over the years, not only found a way to impact skills to these youth but also provides them with the much-needed resources to perform.

Mammito & Girlfriends @ Nairobi National Museum auditorium
Mammito is a trendsetting entertainer who draws from her upbringing in Kibera and her mother’s love for comedy to tell stories that have seen her successfully tour several countries across Africa and beyond. After her tour of Qatar, the comedienne is back and headlining the ‘Mammito & Girlfriends’ comedy night tomorrow, at the Nairobi National Museum’s auditorium. This is the second edition of her comedy franchise, following the runaway success of the sold-out ‘Mammito & Friends’ in December. The all-female cast of ‘Mammito & Girlfriends’ features leading comedians Ciku Waithaka, Justine Wanda, Ruth Nyambura and Shazz Nderitu.

‘Mwacha Mila’ Expo @Nairobi National Museum Creativity Gallery
‘Mwacha Mila’ is an exhibition that brings together artworks by five artistes, for an expression of people’s culture in words, body movement, signs and figures, and how we relate to the environment today. The featured artists are Daisy (Yanzi) Buyanzi, Joyce Kuria, E.brah, Daddo Omutiti, Husna Nyathira

NBO LitFest @ McMillan, Eastlands Library
Now in its third year and presented by Book Bunk, NBO Litfest is a literature festival that celebrates the vast knowledge, art and culture to be found flourishing within Nairobi’s public libraries. This year’s theme is ‘Mtaa Narratives’ and the festival curates a programme across three vintage libraries that are part of Book Bunk’s projects; McMillan Memorial Library, Eastlands Library, and Kaloleni Library. The festival, which kicked off yesterday, brings together an impressive line-up of performers, multi-disciplinary creatives, visual artistes, as well as local, regional, and international writers.

A Wedding (French: Noces) is an internationally co-produced drama that received eight nominations at the 8th Magritte Awards, including Best Film and Best Director, and won two. It is based on the true story of Sadia Sheikh. In Noces, Zahira, 18, is close to her family until her parents ask her to follow family tradition to choose a husband. Torn between customs and her western lifestyle, the young woman turns for help to her brother and confident Amir.
