The Women in Film Awards (WIFA) is pleased to announce the call for nominations for the 7th Women in Film Awards, celebrating women who elevate the Kenyan film and television industry. This year’s theme is “Access Granted — Women Filmmakers Driving Innovation in the Creative Economy,” focusing on those who are breaking barriers and redefining storytelling.
Nominations are open from November 15 to December 15, 2025. We encourage industry professionals, film enthusiasts, and the public to nominate outstanding women who have made significant contributions to film and TV.
Now in its seventh year, WIFA continues to spotlight exceptional women and celebrate excellence both in front of and behind the camera. The 2026 awards feature a comprehensive list of categories, including:
- Directing & Producing: Best Director (Film), Best Director (TV Drama), Best Director (Student Film), Best Assistant Director, Best Producer (Film), Best Producer (TV Drama), Best Producer (Documentary Film), Best Newcomer Producer
- Performance: Best Actress (Film), Best Child Actress, Best Actress (TV Drama)
- Technical Excellence: Best Production Manager, Best Script Supervisor, Best Script Writer (Film), Best Script Writer (TV Drama), Best Location Sound Recordist, Best Sound Designer, Best Costume Designer, Best Production Designer, Best Editor, Best Cinematographer, Best Make-Up Artist
- Digital & Creative Arts: Best Digital Content Creator, Best Animator
WIFA serves as an important platform for recognizing women whose contributions enhance the artistic depth and cultural impact of the film industry. Through these awards, WIFA aims to inspire future generations and promote greater female representation and mentorship within the creative sector.
