From the makers of PARAMOUR and CAGED BIRD, SON OF MAN PRODUCTIONS crown the first quarter this April with another engrossing stage play, DRUMS OF WAR.

DRUMS OF WAR, takes place in the year 1952 and follows a Kenyan soldier taken up by the British Army to go and fight in World War 2, he comes home after 7 years of living in obscurity and uncertainty only to find his wife trying to fight the trauma of having lost him yet now, he’s back and very much alive. He finds his daughter…a girl who doesn’t know his father and neither does his father know her.

What follows is a rollercoaster of painful emotions with all characters fighting to come to terms with the present reality. Each fighting their own fears and hopes amid a soldier not fully recovered from PTSD. All this while in the background, a country fighting for her independence.

Drums of War is a story of war. Yet the war in question is in the battlefield of the mind…even as the heart beats and beats and beats again. Coming together with the warrior drums in a crescendo of passionate emotions of love, loss, and hope.

Directed, Written and Produced by Mavin Kibicho, the play features a revered cast comprising of; Leila Kare (Paramour), Michelle Tayars (It Wasn’t Me), Naomi Wairimu (Paramour), Peter K. Saisi (Paramour), produced and stage managed by Beril Oondo.

DRUMS OF WAR will be staged at the Kenya National Theatre (Ukumbi Mdogo) on April 30th at 3pm and 6pm.
