Barbenheimer comes to Kenya @Anga Diamond Plaza 2
Enjoy the twin premiere party of Barbie and Oppenheimer movies, part of the global trend known as ‘Barbenheimer’, which will be happening this evening at the Anga Cinema. The dress code is ‘Black & Pink’ and this never-seen-before double feature is brought in collaboration with Safaricom, ShopZetu and EABL.

Baco and Urban Plant @ Alliance Française
Baco & Urban Plant, a French group from Mayotte Island currently performing in Kenya, will have a live show at the Alliance Française today. Baco is a composer and author who has been a leading activist in Mahoran culture. His move from the archipelago of Mayotte to the concrete jungle of Paris left an indelible mark on his music, which is imbued with essences of blues, jazz, reggae, rock and rap, to the popular music of the Indian Ocean and the heritage of East Africa. Baco and Urban Plant seeks to bring to life the legacy left by black music to the heritage of today’s music through their unique “R’n’G” genre- a style where the “R” represents reggae, rock, rap, and the “G” being the ‘(n)Goma’, drum in Bantu language.

Story Sosa @ Louis Leakey Auditorium
Baraza Media Lab, Gemini Pictures, and Catapult Agency are proud to present the inaugural edition of Story Sosa – an evening of multimedia storytelling in front of a live audience. Directed by Mugambi Nthiga, Story Sosa has curated six well-researched stories and combined elements of narrative storytelling, video, animation, and immersive experiences with a live band- seeking to reach audiences in new ways and breathe life not just into the media sector but also into the creative space by providing opportunities to collaborate with visual artists, musicians, and graphic designers in a novel audio-visual way.

Kundinyota 2.0 @ Goethe Institut
After sharing their works-in-progress as part of Maabara Cohort 2 last year, Joseph Obel will be engaging the audience with his current artistic processes, thoughts and outputs. In this exhibition of digital photos and landscapes, he explores the politics around his body and how these politics have influenced his perceptions, nuances, and adjustments against himself as he continues living and co-existing in different spaces. He also explores his relationship with his father tracing back to his childhood.

Mistaken Identity screening @ Gravity Amusement Park
The critically-acclaimed Mistaken Identity will be back for a third screening at Gravity Amusement Park, along Eastern Bypass. Directed by Fabby Grace Njongoro, the Kenyan-run and student-led film premiered on May 13 and is a collaboration of Film Gurus in partnership with Dace Media under KCA University. Mistaken Identity follows the topsy-turvy lives of Gun (Collins Otieno), a fierce gang member and his gang leader Big Fish (Eugene Kwach). There will also be a live performance by rapper, Mikal.
