Philit Productions’ web series, Sayuni, is undoubtedly a fresh comedic experience. Enjoyable enough to reimagine the stories most of us grew up in and daring enough to make supernatural and larger-than-life Bible characters relatable to any Kenyan.

Different denominations and religions have their renditions of heaven, but one thing they have in common is something that someone deemed boring in 100 million years, assuming that concept exists in that realm, which is endless singing. Sayuni flips that completely, every soul is still tapped to traits inhibited on earth. Activities there work in a system familiar to a typical Kenyan environment, and characters reflect most, if not all, demographics.
Every joke has intention, not placed for mere laughs but for set-ups to hilarious pay-offs, (water retention, shu-bae, if you know you know). Every character’s personality plays an important role in making this realm interesting, making one feel as if they’re a part of it.
Sayuni is pure comedy gold with exceptional writing and performances that keep you guessing on what will happen next, which divine character will feud with another for the most petty but hilarious circumstance.
