‘Chinchoke Morero’ @KNT
The massively popular Mkisii ni Mkisii presents yet another night of Kisii music and comedy with Chinchoke Morero at the Kenya National Theatre, tomorrow. Produced by Victor Nyaata and Cyprian Osoro, both veterans of theatre, the show is the latest serving in what have so far been unparalleled carnivals of mirth and merry.

‘Reke Ithambio’ @ Phoenix Theatre
One of the most gratifying things to watch in the theatre space this year has been the steady resuscitation of Phoenix Theatre, down at the Professional Centre, especially with almost weekly vernacular shows. Starting today right through to Sunday, the Kikuyu play, Reke Ithambio, will be showing at this famous venue. Written and produced by Tash Mitambo, the comedy follows the lives of two young family men who are made to reassess their roles when what they do at work is called into question by their wives.

Prevail Presents’ ‘Meetings’ @Alliance Française
Starting today Martin Kigondu marks his return from a short hiatus with a directorial role in this play written by acclaimed playwright John Sibi-Okumu. Meetings is about the need for national healing and inter-generational trauma that we never really talk about, delving into some of scars left on many families in the nation. Featuring a star-studded cast that includes Ben Tekee, Hanna Wangari, Emmanuel Mulili, Marianne Nungo, Gibson Ndaiga and Red Brenda, Meetings is a coming together to make amends.

Find Common Ground @ NCAI, Rosslyn Riviera
‘Common Ground’ is an exhibition that brings together artworks by four artists, comprised of drawing, painting and sculpture, highlighting creations that were made within the last decade. On display are artworks that depict social groups, specifically students, uniformed officers, protesters, and family. In these works, each of the artists considers the behaviour of these groups as a unit and their relationships with the physical and social spaces they inhabit. Among them are a large-scale drawing by Peterson Kamwathi, a recently completed group of sculptures by Morris Foit, alongside a significant painting by Elias Mung’ora and a selection of artworks from an ongoing series by Paul Njihia.
