On April 15 this year, Taifa-1, Kenya’s first operational Earth observation satellite was successfully launched into space by the Kenya Space Agency.
And as the world marks World Space Week, which runs from October 4 to October 10, Anga Cinemas and Leo Sky Africa will tomorrow be hosting a chance to explore the Cosmos in 3D in their showcase ‘Cosmic Odyssey’.
This unique event is a chance to learn the often-unheralded history of satellites in Kenya (few know that we have a Space Agency, let alone a chequered track record that goes as far back as the 1960s).
Enthusiasts will also get the opportunity to feel the experience of exploring space through planetarium shows and a space documentary in 3D, and also get a chance to relive the launch of Kenya’s satellite Taifa-1.
Doors open tomorrow, Sunday October 8, from 2pm at the Anga Diamond Cinema, Diamond Plaza 2, with tickets going for Sh700.
