At first, the energy in the room had me thinking I had stumbled into the wrong event. I had arrived to so much music and the kind of enthusiasm from everyone that seemingly brought too much energy for a screening premiere. But with Phil-It Productions’ Haki Mwitu and Kam U Stay being the toast of the day, it wasn’t entirely outrageous to imagine.
The two newest sitcoms in town were being celebrated at the Nairobi Street Kitchen in Westlands last Wednesday, January 10th with unique comic flair.
International Emmy Award winning writer Damaris Irungu Ochieng takes the role of Executive Producer in Maisha Magic Plus’ TV show Kam U Stay. The renowned writer has an impressive track record and judging from the first episode screening of the show, it just keeps getting better.
Catch this dramedy that follows the lives of the Simba’s, a blended family as they manoeuvre their day-to-day lives as a united family amidst nosy neighbours and societal pressures.
From AJ Simba’s (Kevin Kasyoki) antics to John Simba’s (Reinhard Bonke) efforts to keep the family united, Kam U Stay is the perfect blend of family and comedy.
Phil-It Productions on the other hand is the banner that ensures rib-cracking entertainment, and Haki Mwitu lives up to this expectation.
It stars four individuals who make it their responsibility to fish out criminals and scammers around their area with whichever resource under their disposal.
Bilal Mwaura, Mike Smallz, Eileen Joy Fayee, and Gashiki are the helm of it all as they embark on exciting adventures of kusafisha mtaa. The show launches February 9th on Maisha Magic Plus.
