The AMVCA 2025 winners list has been unveiled, and Kenya triumphs as Phil It Production’s Abel Mutua bags the Best Writing category for Untying Kantai and Makosa ni Yangu, named Best Indigenous Language Movie (East Africa).
Kenya dominated the nominees list at this year’s 11th edition with titles such as; Tuki? — Louise Kamwangi (Best Writing, TV Series), The Caller — Brian Munene (Best Indigenous, M-Net Original), Subterranea — Brian Munene and Likarion Wainaina (Best Indigenous, M-Net Original), The Caller — Brian Munene (Best Scripted (M-Net Original) , Kam U Stay — Damaris Irungu Ochieng (Best Scripted (M-Net Original), The Immersive Alarm — East Africa (Best Multichoice Talent Factory), Deadbeat — East Africa (Best Multichoice Talent Factory), and Sukari — Omar Hamza (Best Short Film).
This year’s nominees and winners are a reflection of the strides Kenya is making in Film and TV Production, each and every release a testament to the barriers being broken every single year. New talents emerge and avenues like the AMVCA offer a chance for them to be recognized and celebrated.
