If you’ve heard it from someone or said it to someone, I know there were thoughts and feelings running wild with the confusion of how to express them especially if you were uncertain, the three-word statement that is.

Is love ethical? A question that was the base of Monologue Ambassadors’ ‘Valen2wise’ performance and that bred more in an attempt to articulate the characters’ expression and no doubt dissect the listener’s thoughts all the way through.
Should I receive Love without earning it?
Should I be invisible because of it?
Should I not choose myself in a bid to maintain it?
Should I stay eventhough it might be unsafe in a bid to hold on to what is difficult to find again?
Is it a matter of it being ethical or unethical, or are we just escaping the fact that it is human?
Each monologue did not shy away from displaying the flaws from each character as they tried to understand this ‘feeling’ that acts more like a force of nature inhabing the human body.
The intimacy that came with a space that is Suave Kitchen, Westlands made it feel as if one was having a conversation with the characters, as it a tiny bit understood. This is thanks to performances from; Dadson Gakenga, Michael Ndaka, Ms. Karani, Kael Njihia, Joy Kiptum, and Vivian Nyawira, not forgetting the soothing melodies from Ms. Karani and Stefanie, heightening the theme and mood of the space, and a reminder of more of that in their upcoming show; Becoming, more details and tickets here.

Monologues are not just tools to sharpen performing skills, but also genuine tools for expression. That is what Monologue Ambassadors embodied last Saturday and I bet on previous installations as well. Follow their pages so as not to miss out on the next one; Instagram
