Hey you, indie filmmaker, yes you, Tega Sikio!

How many times have you had the distribution conversation? A lot right? Well, this is different, promise.

Remember that time a cinema experience wasn’t what you expected, maybe what was on screen didn’t quite click and you felt like you needed something more to satiate the lack on that particular weekend, well, in comes Cinematic Portal.

Intending to combine cinema with other mediums of entertainment such as music and dance with a sprinkled red carpet glamour and good food, Cinematic Portal not only focuses on redefining the Kenyan Film Premiere experience, but also forms a creative and financial partnership with indie filmmakers so that we can bridge the gap between the makers and the audience that hungers for a worthwhile Kenyan cinematic experience.

If you dig deeper, there’s always a lore in everything, this one starts in 2025, when two creative minds saw a shared vision, and Frights, Flix, and Fun was born under Cinematic Portal. The duo being Abbie Wanjira (Actor, Director, and Writer), and Cynthia Muniu (Film Curator, Creative producer and director), the vision being curating fun film premieres grounded in escapism through games, meals, and music.

This partnership gave way to Beyond Cupid; a Valentine-themed premiere for short films with the angle of attracting singles to have a great time as well.

Beyond Cupid

Many a short film finds a home on platforms such as YouTube which is undoubtedly oversaturated, Cinematic Portal offers a one-on-one interaction with the audience and an opportunity to build a fan base. Moreover, services in exposing the making of the film are a plus, lightening the weight of marketing.

All the above are to be enforced once more in MAY-I, themed around Glamour, Luxury, and Elegance.

To be held on May 30th, 2026 at Saffron Restaurant and Gastro Bar at Two Rivers Mall, MAY-I offers a scale-up, both as an event and as a cinematic experience.

That is where you play your part, do you have a film that you would like to share with the world with a credible team of creatives on your side, submit your short film here

And if you’re looking for a destination to have a great time at the end of the month, look no further, grab your tickets to MAY-I here
