Peter Kawa is one of the most hardworking and prolific players in the Kenyan entertainment industry currently. He is an award-winning actor, director, producer, artist manager, and serial entrepreneur whose years and chops in acting have seen him lead or be part of impressive ensembles on TV, theatre, and film.
He’s recently portrayed Malik Maka as the lead character in the highly acclaimed Showmax political action thriller ‘County 49‘ (nominated – 2022 Kalasha Awards – Best Lead Actor in a TV Drama).
He has acted beside African greats such as Nigeria’s Rita Dominic and most part of the cast of South Korea’s 2021 blockbuster ‘Escape From Mogadishu’, ‘Uradi’, ‘Nafsi’, and ‘Country Queen’ on Netflix. He has also featured in numerous Kenyan TV shows with roles on shows such as ‘FIHI’ (Winner – Best Actor Riverwood Awards 2018).
He’s been on Lies That Bind, Sumu La Penzi, Real Househelps of Kawangware, Waliobaki and so many more. As a director/ producer, besides having won Best Director 2019 for his feature film ‘Lost in Time’, he is also the creator of the sensational Short film on Netflix ‘Christmas Love’ (Best Short Film – Kalasha Awards 2022), and numerous short films under FilmLab Kenya. He’s advocated for co-productions with ‘Medicine Man’, a project he did alongside his friend Edijoe Mwaniki and Betty Furet.
Peter Kawa is the CEO of Spearhead Entertainment and the brains behind the arts roundtable talk show ‘Sanaa Talks’, ‘Sanaa Post’ an online art platform, and ‘Sanaa Academy‘, an online peer-to-peer skill transfer platform. He’s a Talents’ manager with brands and artists such as Azziad Nasenya, Jackie Kaboi, Peter Kamau, Amalie Chopeta, Melissa Kiplagat, Natalie Tewa, Alex Kinyanjui, and many others under his guidance.
