Considered cream of the crop amongst lighting technicians in the country, Kiwo Gregory once again collaborates with renowned cinematographer, Andrew Odera in the latest of a string of thrilling works by the duo, THIEF. The two have had prior success with projects such as Cheque Mate (Kiwo Films) and The Collector (Miyale Media and Kiwo Films).
Having worked in different sets for a period that spans close to two decades, Kiwo Gregory and Andrew Odera share a zeal to concoct ideas that would otherwise be impossible to execute, which has given rise to Kiwo Films (Kiwo Gregory), and Miyale Media (Andrew Odera).
A stand out quality that compels one to buy a ticket to watch a film from these two gentlemen in the visual prowess and intriguing stories aced up by riveting twists.
This level of top-drawer quality comes to the fore in their new short film, THIEF a thrilling story of a man returning to a life of crime to save his son. Centered around the theme of desperation, the piece is backed by attention-grasping performances from Lucareli Onyango, Helen Keli and Neville Misati.
Kiwo and Andrew assert the notion of being bigger and better as the cinematography, lighting and color pop in every shot. A personal highlight of the film for me is the musical score composed by Noel Grass, something akin to taking on a humongous surf in the emotional waves of the film.
